Richard Cousley was one of the first UK orthodontists to complete the US-based orthodontic ‘Aligner Intensive Fellowship’ in 2019.
This is a four month training program run by experienced aligner orthodontists. It is only open to orthodontic specialists and hence differs markedly in its scope and depth from the 1 day ‘certification’ courses run by InvisalignTM and other sales companies for general dentists.
Since then, we've completely moved away from the mass production approach of commercial aligner companies (who are arguably more interested in their sales pitch and share prices than genuine clinical innovation). Instead, we've followed several highly regarded and pioneering US orthodontists by bringing all of the aligner process 'in-house'. This puts the Priestgate Clinic in the unique position that all of the computerised tooth movement simulations and planning are undertaken only by our orthodontists (and not by a remote technician who's never treated a patient and relies on standardised algorithms), followed by in-house 3D printing processes. This provides our patients with the most advanced and customised orthodontic aligner solutions available anywhere in the world.
