Dr Makropoulos graduated from the University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2014. He completed a year of service as a dentist within the Greek Military and subsequently gained further experience in general dental practice in Greece before relocating to the UK. He then worked as a general dentist for three years while continuing his professional development.

In 2019, he began a three‑year Periodontology training programme at the Eastman Dental Institute, University of London. This programme provided broad clinical and academic training in the diagnosis and management of periodontal diseases, soft‑tissue procedures and the care of patients undergoing implant treatment. In 2022, he was awarded the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) Certificate of Completion of Specialised Training (CCST) in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

Since2020, Dr Makropoulos has worked in private practice with a clinical focus on Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. His practice includes the management of periodontal conditions, soft‑tissue procedures, and the periodontal aspects of implant care. He also contributes to professional education and has been a speaker at a number of study clubs and seminars over the past five years.
