Catherine Cousley is passionate about her dental care. She qualified at the Queen’s University of Belfast with distinctions in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. She then worked in several prestigious London hospitals, including at Great Ormond Street, during which time she passed her fellowship exams to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Although she is a highly qualified and experienced dentist, with a wealth of expertise, Catherine particularly likes to put patients at ease from the outset.

Catherine firmly believes that a dentist’s role isn’t simply to repair what is damaged. It is also to prevent future problems and maintain optimal oral health. Therefore, her dental consultation involves a thorough clinical assessment and diet discussion. In addition, Catherine believes in a detailed explanation of the various treatment options available, including preventative measures to promote oral health.

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Within the Priestgate Clinic practice Catherine is delighted to work as an active team member within a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient management. Catherine is an advocate of minimally invasive dentistry focusing on prevention, remineralization, and minimal dentist intervention. Using scientific and materials advances, minimally invasive dentistry allows dentists to perform the least destructive form of dentistry and avoiding removal of any tooth tissue over and above that required to restore teeth to a healthy, functional and aesthetically pleasing condition. In addition, minimally invasive dentistry involves the use of modern long-lasting dental materials, so the need for future repairs is reduced.
